From Leadership to Impact: Connecting the Dots
Investing in leadership delivers results. That’s the key takeaway from a five-year evaluation of the Haas, Jr. Fund’s Flexible Leadership Awards program.
The Flexible Leadership Awards (FLA) program provides core Haas, Jr. Fund grantees with targeted support to focus on strengthening their board and staff leadership.
Bill Ryan of Harvard University’s Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations took a detailed look at the 14 organizations in the program’s inaugural “class,” from 2005-2010, and found that the FLA program was critical to helping participating organizations meet their goals.
Ryan’s evaluation goes beyond a typical self-report survey; it connects the dots between investments in leadership and their impact on organizations and movements.
